SONNE: An American Portrait is a one of my personal project which featured the Sonnes, a married couple whose lives and personal style made them natural subjects for photography.

The project came together while my longtime friend and photographer, Tony, was visiting. I had wanted to photograph the Sonnes for some time, so we finally set out to make it happen.

While working with Tony's photographs afterward, the project found its direction. Through some light design work, I began presenting the Sonnes through the visual language of fashion and editorial photography, creating a series that feels stylized and intentional while remaining grounded in who they actually are.

Collectors of antiques, restorers of old cars, and former tobacco and chicken farmers, they have an unmistakable aesthetic shaped by the things they love. The Sonne's clothing, car, cigars, and most of the accessories pictured are their own.
